Volume and surface area of pyramids and cones

Order-No. 6410

Department:
  • Mathematics

Year of production: 2017
Duration: 09:55 minutes

This film shows how the volume of pointed bodies can be worked out using their component prisms. To do so, models of the various bodies are filled with colored pebbles and the contents are poured into one another. Together with animations that help students' imagination, the film shows how even complicated problems can be understood by looking very closely. Furthermore, the triangular or circular surfaces are explained as shell surfaces. The combination of real models and clear animations illustrate how only the body height and diameter or edge length of the base surface are needed to work out the surface area.
